Planning my Trip to Philly for Temple University's Home Coming 2022
Temple University, where my daughter's happiness evolves.
This is our second year attending Home Coming parents' weekend, and I like to plan. Temple University also likes to plan, and they have prepared well with free activities for the whole family, not just alums or current students current, activities, current I highly recommend checking out this website
Your hotel and parking
Finding a hotel in Philly can be pricey. Philly is a busy city with year-round events that drive the hotel's needs, so finding your place to stay and park will dictate your travel radius a bit. Most hotels will be around Center City, Pens Landing, and University City neighborhoods. I am a big fan of Center City, and many easy-to-walk restaurants and SEPTA stations are close by for easy use, but parking is not always easy, so finding a parking place is essential if you bring a car.
Information, Information the more, the better.
The greater Philadelphia area has an excellent visitor center website that is continually updated and well organized. https://www.visitphilly.com/articles/philadelphia/guide-to-fall-in-greater-philadelphia/ Every time I plan a visit, I look at VisitPhilly.com, and I am inspired to find time and a hotel to visit. Also, one of my favorite sources of information about Temple University and the Philly area is https://temple.campusesp.com/ ( this is something you need to sign up for with the university.)
Go to Events
Temple has a Family Social, Welcome Tables, and an Art Market at Tyler School of Art and Architecture. There are also tours of the campus and Tours of the city put on by local vendors. Most importantly, go Tail Gating and see the Alumni supporting their school. Use the Home Coming website set up by the school.
Have your Owl ( aka student) show you around
My Owl is a fan of the food trucks; she has a few who know her personally. She is our SEPTA guide on getting to Lincoln Stadium, where the game and Tail Gating is easily navigated. Our Owl also is a fan of Reeding Market and Philly Zoo, which are must-stops for us.
Enjoy watching your Owls HappinessEvolve
Philly is a fun and delicious city to visit and an excellent place for your Owl to enjoy, evolve and find happiness.
